Celery Juice – Pros & Cons of the Latest Instagram Trend

celery juice

A quick look at your Instagram feed or even in gossip magazines will show you that celebrities and influencers have gone crazy with celery juice.

Of course, healthy green drinks have always been a hit on social media, but this one has racked up more than 40.000 posts on Instagram with #CeleryJuice and with the new #CeleryJuiceChallenge.

But what is so great about this juice that Kylie Jenner, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Naomi Campell (among many others) drink like crazy? celery juice

Pros

Celery is a source of rich nutrients, such as iron, phosphorus, calcium, and vitamins B1, and B2, as well as vitamin C and riboflavin. Also, it has been observed that it contains the substance Luteolin, which can reduce memory loss in old age.  Celery is rich in water.

Consuming celery juice hydrates the body pretty well while helping with the bloating, as a natural diuretic. This is the main reason many celebrities drink every morning a juice of celery.  Also, due to its high content of antioxidants, has anti-inflammatory properties and helps the body to fight many diseases.

Celery is rich in nitrates, which stimulate blood circulation and reduce blood pressure. Due to its anti-inflammatory action, it enhances bowel health and digestion.

Cons

Although it contains rich nutrients, has a low-calorie load and no dietary fibers. For that reason, celery juice cannot replace a whole meal.

In other words, consumption can be a wonderful assistant in combating fluid retention, but we should always remember that celery juice is a snack, rather than a meal.

Last but not least: it tastes awful!
